Baby Room

I had a "vision" for my baby room - not a majorly creative one, but I knew I wanted yellows & pale blues, I wanted to try my hand at wide stripes on the wall (never again! :) -- and I wanted fluffy clouds on the ceiling! I started in January of 2006 - and it took me about 3 months to do those stripes! (I was only painting about every other Saturday, as I was working at Papitre on some Saturdays). Though a pain in the you know what, I was pleased with the final result. In "real life," the yellow colors are paler than they appear in the photos below. And I LOVE my clouds on the ceiling!! -- but they are not "mine!" -- Many thanks to my talented cousin, May (yes, we have the same name), who is an art teacher at East Mecklenburg High School and a talented artist in her own right.

And let me also add that just about every stick of furniture you see in this room came to me from my good friends, Mary Anne & Brian -- they have really "donated to the cause!" -- Including the wonderful crib, glider rocker (love it!), and changing table. (Not to mention other things you don't see, like a stroller, jogging stroller, and more.) AND they delivered the crib and changing table! (Forgot to mention in the previous post that my sister Julie put the crib together, too -- in about 10 minutes flat -- she's good! :)

So I kind of lost steam for a while after I finished painting last spring, since the adoption was taking SO long. But then I got the carpet in, then Julie came and put up the blinds, etc. I got the furniture in this winter (from MA & Brian) and then did a little more "decorating" with pictures from my favorite art gallery -- yep, "Tar-zhay" (Target). Many thanks also to Brian S. and his mother Joanne who made a "decorater house call" on a Sunday night and hung 3 pictures for me in 5 minutes!

I think it's just about "ready" - just need a few more little things (cute trashcan?, laundry bag? diaper pail? -- I'm not exactly sure what else I need...Also need to "organize" the changing table -- no diapers or accessories yet -- I don't know what size diapers!
