There are many acronyms in the adoption world, some that apply to all adoptions and some that are specific to the adoption process in China. I may use a few of these acronyms from time to time on this blog, so I'll share them here in case you want to know what the heck I'm talking about.
Harrah's AIM (Adoption International Mission) - this is my U.S. adoption agency
HFS - another reference to Harrah's (above) - stands for Harrah's Family Services
CCAA - China Center of Adoption Affairs
DTC - Dossier To China (date your dossier/application was sent to China)
LID - Log-In Date - official date of when your dossier was registered in China - very important!
SWI - Social Welfare Institute - term China uses for orphanage
TA - Travel Approval (from China - must have before you can book flights)
CA - Consulate Appointment (China approves date for this appt. with the U.S. Consulate in China where your child is officially adopted and given her U.S. Visa - must have before you travel)

Hi Maisey! Thank you for linking me to your blog. It is wonderful to "see" you again! This has got to be the longest pregnancy in history. 2 years?!? jeez. The wait will be worth it, guaranteed! Thanks for sharing your pictures with us. David's brother brought their daughter home from China recently and everything is great with them. Katie has adjusted very well, after a few bumps in the road. I'll keep this site bookmarked and check in regularly!
